Join us to hear from Brent about The Center of Wichita. The Center of Wichita is a place to call home for Wichita’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Allied (LGBTQ+) community and a safe space for youth. Run by the community for the community.
Brent has been actively involved in the Wichita LGBTQ community since the late 90s. He has served as the Events Director and President of Wichita Pride as well as previously volunteering for Positive Directions. Along with his work at The Center he is also a leader of The Wichita Two-Spirit Society. He assists The Center with the Get Connected youth group, outreach, education, social media, and anti-defamation.
Wichita Oasis is a non-religious community for people to come together to connect, be inspired, and feel empowered. We meet weekly on Sunday mornings and programming may include featured speakers, live local musicians, potlucks, service projects, game days, and more. The program starts at 11:00 AM, and people are encouraged to come half an hour earlier for coffee, snacks, and conversation.
Kid's Room. Two experienced and background-checked adults are ready to help make your child's experience at Wichita Oasis as fun and engaging as the main program.
Extension Room. For older kids and adults who don't require supervision but are not interested in the main program, the Extension Room offers a separate space to connect, play, create, and explore. Two background-checked adults will be there hanging out, so you'll never be alone. Feel free to bring a game, craft, book, or other activity to enjoy by yourself or with others.
