Speaker Bio:

My name is Michael Cayless, although I go by Mick. I was born and raised near Nottingham, England and I have a degree in recreation management from Leeds University in Leeds, England. I met my wife, Celia, in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1989 while working on a student abroad visa. We married in July 1992 and have now been married for nearly 32 years and have three children. My oldest is Lauren, 24 years old, and is about to graduate with a degree in psychology from Wichita State University. I have 21-year-old boy/girl twins. My boy, Jeffrey, is in the U.S. Navy and is currently serving in Bahrain and my girl, Genevieve, works at Trader Joe’s.

Celia is originally from Liberal, KS and we both live in Eastborough. She is the executive director of the Kansas Children’s Foundation.

I have worked in the non-profit sector for over 24 years with employment at Children’s Miracle Network, Project Access, Union Rescue Mission, and currently at United Methodist Open Door. I am a devoted follower of Jesus Christ who is my Lord and Savior.

About Oasis. Oasis is a place for the non-religious to come together to celebrate the human experience. We are a secular community that meets weekly on Sunday mornings to enjoy fascinating talks, live music, and friendship. The program starts at 11:00 AM, and people are encouraged to come half an hour earlier for coffee, snacks, and conversation. If it's your first time visiting, make sure to stop by our welcome table to say hello and learn more about Oasis.

Kids Room. Oasis is focused on families, and we provide our children with engaging and fun activities during Sunday gatherings overseen by a paid, background-checked staff. Parents can drop off their young ones with our team in the kids room, where they will meet new friends and enjoy fun activities together. Along with the kids' room at weekly Sunday gatherings, Oasis provides a network of support for parents and children to grow up in a framework of compassion, critical thinking and dogma-free education.

Covid Policy. Please note that masks are not required. We do have masks and hand sanitizer available for anyone who would like them. If you are ill, please stay home.
