Join us this Sunday for a clothing swap! Fast fashion where we are constantly purchasing new, cheaply made clothing has had a deep, damaging impact on the environment. In our efforts to use human hands to solve human problems and make more sustainable choices, Wichita Oasis is hosting a clothing swap.
Clean out your closet and bring those gently used, freshly laundered clothes this Sunday. We will have tables for you to set out your donated items and to look through the donated clothing from others. Take what you want and leave what you don't. There is no admission fee and you do not have to bring any clothes in order to take anything. This is a 100% free, no buy swap. For sanitary reasons do not bring undergarments and leave all undergarments on while trying on clothing.
Any clothing left at the end of the swap will be donated to
The Alphabet Project. The Alphabet Project is a comprehensive initiative committed to empowering caregivers of LGBTQIA+ and disabled youth, with the overarching goal of enhancing the lives of both communities. Their multifaceted approach includes a spectrum of services, such as specialized courses, personalized one-on-one support, interactive workshops, facilitation of connections with local community resources, and the organization of impactful community events. Their mission is to actively contribute to creating a more inclusive and supportive world for individuals and families within these diverse communities.
About Oasis. Oasis is a place for the non-religious to come together to celebrate the human experience. We are a secular community that meets weekly on Sunday mornings to enjoy fascinating talks, live music, and friendship. The program starts at 11:00 AM, and people are encouraged to come half an hour earlier for coffee, snacks, and conversation. If it's your first time visiting, make sure to stop by our welcome table to say hello and learn more about Oasis.
Kids Room. Oasis is focused on families, and we provide our children with engaging and fun activities during Sunday gatherings overseen by a paid, background-checked staff. Parents can drop off their young ones with our team in the kids room, where they will meet new friends and enjoy fun activities together. Along with the kids' room at weekly Sunday gatherings, Oasis provides a network of support for parents and children to grow up in a framework of compassion, critical thinking and dogma-free education.
Covid Policy. Please note that masks are not required. We do have masks and hand sanitizer available for anyone who would like them. If you are ill, please stay home.
