—  My Love Affair with Black Licorice with Erin Shields | Musical Guest: Annie Mack —  2418 E 9th St N, Wichita, KS 67214

How my teenage urge for individuality led to a lifelong love affair with black licorice, a talk by Erin Shields

Join us this Sunday where Erin will take us on a journey to better understand (and to possibly enjoy) the world’s most-hated candy: Black Licorice. We’ll address your most pressing questions on the topic: What makes people put such foul stuff in their mouths? How come this junk hasn’t done the world a favor by disappearing from shelves? Is black licorice eaten at higher rates by individuals with sociopathic tendencies? Why is there so much hate for this sweet treat? Is black licorice one of those emo kids? Don’t snooze on this opportunity to curl your nose up at what is basically the cockroach of confectionaries!

Musical Guest: Annie Mack. Texas native, singer songwriter.

About Oasis. Oasis is a place for the non-religious to come together to celebrate the human experience. We are a secular community that meets weekly on Sunday mornings to enjoy fascinating talks, live music, and friendship. The program starts at 11:00 AM, and people are encouraged to come half an hour earlier for coffee, snacks, and conversation. If it's your first time visiting, make sure to stop by our welcome table to say hello and learn more about Oasis.

Kids Room. Oasis is focused on families, and we provide our children with engaging and fun activities during Sunday gatherings overseen by a paid, background-checked staff. Parents can drop off their young ones with our team in the kids room, where they will meet new friends and enjoy fun activities together. Along with the kids' room at weekly Sunday gatherings, Oasis provides a network of support for parents and children to grow up in a framework of compassion, critical thinking and dogma-free education.

Covid Policy. Please note that masks are not required. We do have masks and hand sanitizer available for anyone who would like them. If you are ill, please stay home.
