Each month, Oasis hosts a potluck to encourage community and social interaction. Bring a dish if you want to share, or come with just your appetite. We're happy to have you here!
Every quarter we also collect shelf stable food items to assemble "snack bag" for students and families in the USD 259 McKinney-Vento program which serves students who are homeless or in transition in the Wichita area. This is part of our core beliefs that meaning comes from making a difference and human hands solve human problems. On Sundays, we will be passing around a clipboard with a sign up sheet for items to bring but if you'd like to sign up for something we also have the digital sign up sheet.
https://bit.ly/WichitaOasisMV. Remember, you can split an item with someone if you are unable to bring 32 of one item. Be sure to indicate how many you will bring. You can bring your donation items to KANSEL at any time or contact a board member.
Also check the dollar stores and Dillon's for sales. Items like the tuna snacks and jerky go on sale for as little as $1 each. They are a shelf stable protein that doesn't require any cooking or preparation, an important feature for someone who may be living in a hotel or out of their vehicle.
Program director Cynthia spoke to us a few months ago about how our snack bags are some of the fullest, most generous bags that get donated to their program and are often distributed to whole families that are in transition. We are very proud of the generosity of our community.
Covid Policy. Please note that masks are strongly encouraged, but for the time being not required. We do have masks and hand sanitizer available for anyone who needs it.
