WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT A TYPICAL BOOK CLUB
The Wichita Oasis Book Club is a place to connect and discuss both fiction and non-fiction books that are inviting, inspiring, or intriguing to a humanist audience.
The meeting format is lightly structured:
- The host shares a short summary of the book and asks a few guided questions to get the conversation going.
- Participants share their thoughts and engage in conversation about the book and related topics.
- The host gathers new book titles to add to the book list, and participants vote on the next book. Books are selected two months in advance to ensure everyone has time to secure a copy.
- A few copies of the next month's book are distributed for free--first come, first serve. You are welcome to keep the book, pass it on to someone else, or return it to the Wichita Oasis Library.
HOW DO I JOIN?
Just show up! Meetings are typically held on the last Sunday of the month at 12:30 pm--after the Wichita Oasis potluck and in the same meeting space. The date, time, and book title are posted in the same channels as other Wichita Oasis events. Participants are not required to have read the book to join the conversation.
